Robert George: “The false claim”

18 April 2017

“The truth is that people DON’T actually feel “unsafe” around speakers (or teachers or fellow students or others) who happen to disagree with them on questions of morality and public policy or other issues in dispute among reasonable people of goodwill in our society. The false claim that they are being made to feel “unsafe” is nothing more than an ideologically motivated technique of intimidation—a bullying tactic. And it’s high time that someone said so. Academic (and other) institutions, as well as individuals, must refuse to yield to those who seek to exclude or silence people who disagree with them. Period.”
