Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s secular political motives for the evangelism of Muslims.

31 December 2010

In this video, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, herself a former Muslim, now Atheist, explains why she thinks it important for Christians to make more of an effort to convert Muslims.

I myself support and engage in activities that enable others to share the Christian Faith that I have. It is part of the mission of the Church. A mission to free the world from the dominion of sin and death. That liberation is the Gospel that is offered to mankind. True evangelization is a ministry of liberation. The Messiah was anointed “to proclaim good news to the poor. . . .to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed”(Luke 4:18 ESV).

To seek the conversion of Muslims for the secular political motive that Ayaan Hirsi Ali offers here would be terribly cynical. His kingdom is not of this world. To attempt to subvert it, and use it to serve very secular, this worldly goals is a form of apostasy. I hope that no one will be so lacking integrity as to take her approach. My fear though is that there are any number who are already thinking this way.

Although it is from last year, I think you may find this book review useful. The author comes from a Muslim perspective and reviews her works. The link is here … it is good to hear other opinions and ideas.
